
SCENIC PAINTER
Reporting to the shop manager, our painters are responsible for painting and treating scenery and maintaining high-quality finishes of custom projects. Must have knowledge of finishing, surface preparation, paint application, and scenic treatments.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

Managing finishing and painting of pieces for individual projects

Working from technical drawings, color renderings and build lists to verify color specifications and paint with attention to detail and quality

Maintaining best practices and sound finishing and painting techniques

Preparing surfaces to be painted, filling holes, cracks, seams with bondo, and sanding smooth.

Applying primer and other products to paint surfaces to ensure that paint sticks to them.

Mixing and matching paint, stain and other finishes.

Applying paint, stain and other finishes to paint surfaces by using brushes, rollers or sprayers.

Cover necessary areas with dropcloths and plastic as needed to protect surfaces.

Effectively communicating, both orally and in writing, and remaining professional at all times

Ensuring proper safety practices are followed, personal protective equipment is worn at all times, and that a safe and efficient workspace is maintained
The ideal candidate will have:

Experience of finishing and painting in a scenic fabrication shop

Extensive knowledge of surface preparation and paint application
-
Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary to
